Fr. Marvin’s Reflection - October 19
In today’s second reading from the Second Letter to Timothy, St. Paul urges his young disciple to remain steadfast in the teachings he has received, emphasizing the enduring power and importance of Sacred Scripture.
St. Paul reminds Timothy—and us—that the Scriptures are "inspired by God" and are invaluable for teaching, correcting, and training in righteousness. The Word of God is not merely ancient text; it is the living voice of God, guiding us throughout our lives. Just as Timothy is encouraged to stay rooted in the Word he has known from childhood, we, too, are called to hold fast to the truth that Scripture reveals.
Paul goes further to command Timothy to "proclaim the word," highlighting the urgency of sharing the Gospel with others. We are challenged to preach whether it is convenient or inconvenient, to correct and encourage with patience. This speaks to our mission to be witnesses of Christ, sharing His love and truth in our everyday encounters.
As we reflect on this passage, let us renew our commitment to immerse ourselves in Scripture, allowing it to shape us and guide our actions. In doing so, may we boldly proclaim the Gospel to the world, inspired by the faith we have received.
In Christ,
Fr. Marvin
